Good job Vancouver...

Hopefully the Stars will learn from this and become better next year... They
should have played with the same intensity all series but champions do that.
Vancouver went in fighting and champion calibur teams do that. Let's see if
they have what it takes to go further. Sure would like that CANUCK goalie in
our net.

Very gracious. Would you all in Dallas PLEASE get off Turco's back? I
really don't see what else he could have done during this series. He
was spectacular.

True, Turco played good. He and the Canuck (excuse my ignorance, I am not a
huge hockey fan) did very well. In fact both had outstanding numbers.. I
think they both had a 95% save percentage? Anyway, best wishes to the Nucks'

No. 12 other goalies have done it and Martin Brodeur twice. May be the first
one to lose a series after getting three shutouts.

anyone ever had 4 shut-outs in a series?

I guess so.... Turco is an excellent goalie, but he's a jinx...
guy's what? 2-10 in playoffs OT's?

Turco was pretty close, 3.5 games of shut-outs....
he just couldn't finish off the Nucks.

4.5, if you count the 3 blanked periods of OT play in game 1.

Did this series have it all, or what? One of the longest OT games ever,
Three OTs, 3 shutouts (by, arguably, the slightly inferior goalie in the
series!) and lots of weirdness.

There's something glorious about how a 7 game series develops. First the
teams hate each other, then they really hate each other, then by game
six or so I get the impression that it takes great restraint for each
team to not try to punch through the ribcages of their opponents during
the national anthems.

BTW, until the Canucks potted two empty-netters in the last game, they
were behind in total goals for the series. As it was, they scored one
more goal than Dallas.

This continues an interesting theme for the Canucks from the regular
season: they are weirdly economical with their goals.

By economical, I mean that in the regular series they won more points
that expected given their goal differential (that stat being a strong
proxy for points earned). Here again, their goals overachieved.

Normally, the assumption is that goal differential oddities are mostly
luck and thus you can make good money betting against previously "lucky"
teams.

But the Canucks have made a pattern of it!

Yea, I noticed that stat, I forget the exact numbers but they were about 24
games above .500 having scored about 21 more goals than their opposition.

Honestly, Turco was pretty damn good too - it was a matter of shot
theory, if you put double the pucks on net, chances are a lot higher
one of em goes in.

Turco was phenomenal, goaltending did not decide this series.

I'm not sure Canucks deserved it, but we'll take it!!! I thoroughly enjoyed
this series, and wow, I am impressed with Turco - what a show he put on!
This series could have easily went the other way, and kudos to Dallas for
giving it all they had! You should be proud of your Stars!
